"OPERETTA-PARK" FESTIVAL IN GATCHINA

These days on the stage sites, equipped on the Silver meadow directly under the open sky, the staff of the St. Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy with the participation of circus performers, dancers of national dance groups, stuntmen and riders of the Cossack Dzhigitovka Center will present musical fantasies on the operetta "Wedding in Malinovka" by B. Alexandrov and "Mr. X" by I. Kalman. The final chord of the festival will be a brilliant Gala concert of operetta stars, accompanied by the orchestra of the Musical Comedy Theater.

The festival "OPERETTA-PARK" is a unique theatrical and musical project, which revives the historical and cultural traditions of St. Petersburg - the city, a special place in the architecture of which is occupied by garden and park ensembles. In their shady coolness, in the middle of the 19th century, the renowned collectives of musical theaters, called the theaters-gardens: the Hermitage, Orpheus, Krestovsky Garden, Luna Park, Aquarium, Arcadia, performed ... In open spaces Operetta and operetta concerts were shown. For example, only performances of the theater "Summer Buff" in the Izmaylovsky garden gathered daily up to four thousand Petersburgers and guests of the city.

For the first time with the initiative to create in St. Petersburg an operetta festival in the open air, following the example of major European festivals (the festival in Mörbisch), the theater of musical comedy appeared three years ago. A kind of "breakthrough" for the organizers of the future festival was the performance of musical comedy on June 18, 2016 on the Silver meadow in the museum-reserve "Gatchina". Then, in the days of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Gatchina Palace, the theater presented the play "Bondmaid" - a musical fantasy based on the operetta of N. M. Strelnikov, which was visited by over two and a half thousand spectators. A lot of enthusiastic reviews and colorful photo reports in an instant flew over the Internet. They did not leave this project and the leading city media outlets. Such success of the unusual performance in the open air, which became a resonant event for the citizens of St. Petersburg and residents of Gatchina, became a convincing "yes" to holding a full-scale festival.
In 2017, the Gatchina Museum and the Musical Comedy Theater invite guests to a fantastic theatrical and musical marathon in which every spectator will find something to their liking. The festival will open with the musical comedy "Wedding in Malinovka", which will be attended not only by professional artists, but also by the charming inhabitants of the Palace Farm, residents of the Imperial household - rabbits, chickens and goats. Preliminary show of the show is an exhibition of folk village life of the late XIX - early XX century. A spectacular action will add large-scale battle scenes with the participation of stuntmen and riders of the Cossack Dzhigitovka Center.

The second performance of the festival is the famous "Mr. X" by Imre Kalman, in which the creative group will try to broaden the view of the audience about the possibilities of the musical theater, combining music, dance and circus on open air. Interactive overture with stilt walkers, acrobats, jugglers and clowns will bring the guests to the atmosphere of the circus of the early XX century. A special glamor will give effect to the defile of the "high society public", arriving in retro-cabriolets. And couples dancing a waltz just above the spectators' heads, will help viewers feel themselves in the center of the unfolding events.
The festival will be finished with a big concert of operetta hits, in which leading soloists of the troupe, as well as artists of the choir and ballet of the Musical Comedy Theater, will take part. As guests of the festival, the theater is pleased to present the stars of the Hungarian scene Kékkovács Mara and Laki Péter - an unsurpassed cascade couple, masterfully performing the most complicated tricks. In addition, on one stage with the Russian stars of the genre there will be amazing artists from Poland - Rafal Bartminski and Iolanta Wagner, who will present the Polish vocal school for the first time to the Petersburg audience.
The concert will be attended by the main guest conductor of the Theater of Musical Comedy Peter Gut (Austria) - one of the few conducting conductors in the world. His inimitable violin, which can suddenly change the conductor's baton in the hands of the maestro right during the musical number, made him a virtuoso conductor, famous throughout the world.
